Welcome! This is your one-stop shop for all activities held during Bike Month in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. If you’re organizing a bike-related activity, please email info@jacksonvillebikemonth.com with information and we’ll add it to this page.

Various Duval bike clubs, organizations, businesses, and city officials, are organizing several activities which will be listed on this site. We’ll continuously update this list periodically.

Brought to you by the local bicycling community, and in part by the Jacksonville Bicycle Coalition, SORBA JaxZenCog, Friends of BPAC, and the JWBA.

Social Rides and Cultural Events

All MonthBike to Work  – Ride your bike to work — this month or any other month. Or really whenever you wish! Post a pic to social media with the hashtag #ibikejax.

All Month — Show your spirit! Strap your bike racks onto your vehicles and keep them there all month (and maybe a bike-related bumper sticker or two). Let’s unite in solidarity with this one simple gesture and show all the Jax motorists that you’re a cyclist and proud of it. Post a pic to social media with the hashtag #ibikejax.

1 May — Skids Bike ‘n’ Brew Grand Opening – Come celebrate this major step in historic Springfield’s development.  Compete with others for bragging rights and more cool stuff while supporting your bike community. Bring a friend, bring a bike, and partake in some bike game festivities!

3 May — Don’t Art Walk, Art Bike – Don’t settle for driving, searching for a parking spot, and walking when you can ride your bike to Downtown Jacksonville’s monthly Art Walk event. Click on the link for tips.

4 May — Beginner Bicycle Fair – Join Bird Legs Bicycles for their annual Beginner Bicycle Fair on May 4, at 6:30pm! Meet local bicycle clubs, find people to ride with, and learn about nearby bike events, all while enjoying some food truck goodies in a fun, casual atmosphere!

4 May — BPAC Meeting – The City of Jacksonville’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee meets every month to discuss regional bicycle and pedestrian planning issues. The public is always welcome to join and chime in. Meetings are the first Thursday of every month, 5:30pm in the Ed Ball Building, downtown, right near City Hall and Hemming Plaza. The room is the Training Room, first floor, right next to the south entrance of the building.

6 May Bike Safety Clinic – Join us at Open Road Bicycles CR210 for a morning of Bike Safety and Fun to help prepare your athlete for the First Coast Kids Triathlon. Although this Clinic is Free we need for you to RESERVE your child’s spot at http://tinyurl.com/FCKTStJohns

6 May — RAM Ride  – A family-oriented ride hosted by Garf of ZenCog which meets every Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market.

6 May — Tour de Cure – By The American Diabetes Association.

10 May National Bike or Walk to School Day – Thousands of students, families, community partners, and elected officials around the country will celebrate the benefits of biking and walking to school during National Bike to School Day.

11 May — Ride to Yoga in the Park – Meet up at 6:30pm at the Open Road Bicycles San Marco shop (4460 Hendricks Ave) for a leisurely bike ride through historical San Marco and ending at Landon Park for a relaxed yoga session. Yoga sponsored by Hot Spot Yoga and bike ride hosted by Open Road Bicycles.

12 May — Happy Hour SWARM Ride – Start your weekend off right for a special edition SWARM Ride for a little TGIF in the dirt! Fleet Farming will be harvesting the next batch of Fleet Greens and Arugula for sale. 5:30pm: Happy Hour begins with FREE BEER! 6:00pm: SWARM Ride to Brandon’s Farmlette to harvest Fleet Greens and Arugula. Volunteers get 50% off any produce! 7:00pm: Head back to ZenCog for more brews. Produce and t-shirts will be for sale.

13 May — RAM Ride  – A family-oriented ride hosted by Garf of ZenCog which meets every Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market.

13 May — S-Line Urban Trail Group Ride – By Groundwork Jacksonville

13 May CycloFemme Ride – Join Performance Bicycle on Southside Blvd. at 9:00am for one of two ride options and join cyclists around the world for this worthy cause.

14 May — CycloFemme Mother’s Day Ride – Join Open Road Bicycles on Mother’s Day morning at 8am for one of two ride options. We will offer a 25ish mile option on road bikes and an “Tour de Neighborhood” ride appropriate for whatever kind of bike you ride.

15 – 19 May — Jacksonville’s Car-Free Week – For one week in Bike Month, May 15 – 19, the Jacksonville BPAC is encouraging you to try other options — for just one day, or all week! The goal is to build awareness of the City’s walking and biking initiatives, and to recognize “active transit” riders like you at the Closing Awards Ceremony. Comprehensive details can be found at www.jacksonvillebikemonth.com/carfreeweek.

17 May — Ride of Silence – This is a long standing tradition by LakeShore Bicycles. Meet up at 7:00pm at LakeShore Bicycle Shop to ride in quiet observation of our fallen cyclist colleagues. Contact Charlie for more info at 904-388-0612.

18 May Ladies Night at the Bike Shop -Ladies!!! Join Open Road Bicycles Avondale and Black Girls Do Bike Jacksonville for a free basic maintenance clinic, flat tire changing and bike tips. There will be food, wine and discounts on purchases! Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 6:30pm.

19 May — Jacksonville’s Car-Free Week Awards Ceremony – On Friday, May 19, from 6:00-8:00pm, Car-Free Week participants and guests can join everyone at Intuition Ale Works for the Awards Ceremony. The good folks at Intuition will be offering $1 off beers at the Ceremony AND all week — May 15-19 — to qualifying participants.  The “most impressive commuters” will be recognized. 19 May — National Bike to Work Day – RIDE BIKES to WORK… for a change. And yes, it can be realistic! If you are a bit of a novice when it comes to what we call “serious bike rides”, read some tips and tricks. And be sure to participate in the Car-Free Week event taking place May 15-19. 20 May — Springfield Home Tour / Bike Tour — Take a charming and totally fun guided tour of beautiful Springfield, with everyone’s favorite Jax tour guide, Leigh Burdett of e2rRide Bike Tours, and learn about its rich history.  The tour is free with a Springfield Home Tour ticket. 20 May RAM Ride  – A family-oriented ride hosted by Garf of ZenCog which meets every Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market.

21 May — Spring Bike Repair Shop – Join ZenCog, jax REcycle and Groundwork Jacksonville for a good cause and to enhance your bike repair skills!

21 May — VeloBrew/FSCJ-AV Homes Criterium Series – Velobrew Crit Racing Series on a closed course at Florida State College at Jacksonville.  Races include: Kids, Juniors, Masters 35+ Category 1/2/3, 3/4, and 4/5.

25-28 May — Ride Bikes to The Jazz Festival – The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is a weekend of Jazz that is the “second-largest jazz festival in the nation” according to Superpages and that, according to the Jacksonville Times-Union, has been dubbed by “experts” as “one of the 20 best in the nation.” So get some friends together, ride bikes to the fest, and enjoy parking anywhere you want.

26 May — Critical Mass – An all-ages peaceful protest ride which meets every last Friday of the month at Memorial Park, 5:30-8:30. Attendees are expected to be relatively strong bike riders, to wear helmets and lights, and to ride at their own risk.

27 May RAM Ride  – A family-oriented ride hosted by Garf of ZenCog which meets every Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market.

8 April — Daily’s Fit-4-Life Kids Duathlon at Riverside Presbyterian Day School – This one-day community event will feature a run, bike, run (Duathlon) for ALL children ages 5 – 15.

22 April — Katie Ride – Presented by Mayo Clinic, the Katie Ride has become one of the nation’s most anticipated and beloved cycling/walking/running/triathlete events.

30 AprilTour de Forts Classic® – The North Florida Bicycle Club brings you a one-day bicycle event designed for all road cyclists, the 26th Annual Tour de Forts Classic ®. 

4 June First Coast Kids Triathlon – Saturday, May 6th will be package pick for all athletes with race day on Sunday, May 7th.  The Juniors (ages 6 to 10) will race 100 meter swim, 3 mile bike and 1/2 mile run.  The Seniors (ages 11 to 15) will race 200 meter swim, 6 mile bike and 1 mile run.

WJCT’s First Coast Forum – Tune in and find out about Jacksonville’s transportation shortcomings and why it is our motorists react so negatively to cyclists and pedestrians when compared to other citizens sharing the roadways in more progressive metropolitan areas of the country.

National Bike to Work Day – Whether or not this is organized by any entity is not an issue. Simply ride your bike to work… this day… or any other day. Or even several days a year if you wish ;)

 Free day of CoWorking at CoWork Jax  –  CoWork Jax is offering a free day of coworking on May 18th to anyone that rides their bike in. 

RAM Ride  – A family-oriented ride which meets every Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market.

Cutting new trails at Tillie K. Fowler Park – A great time for mountain bikers to try out pre-existing trails and/or help cut some new ones.

Springfield Home & Garden Bike Tour – By SPAR and e2Ride Bike Tours

Bert’s Birthday Challenge Ride – By Bert Shaw of the NFBC. Still makin’ all you young bloods eat his bike dust at 84 years of age.

 Cabot Tour & Save the St. Johns River Ferry! – A demonstration to help save the St. Johns River Ferry, a key link to the East Coast Greenway for cyclists and the ONLY way to get across that side of the river by bike.

Cycling Savvy – By the NFBC. Learn the rules of the road and how to ride safely.

Interview about National Bike Month on Action News Morning Show, 8:00am – JBC member, Abhishek Mukherjee, discusses Bike Month and why it is Jacksonville has been ranked the third most dangerous city in the nation regarding cyclists and pedestrians.

Bike to the Jacksonville Jazz Fest  – This isn’t hosted by anyone. Simply ride your bike to the Jazz Fest and enjoy parking anywhere ;)
