About

Welcome, Everyone! This is your one-stop shop for all activities held during Bike Month in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. If you are organizing a bike-related activity, please email info@jacksonvillebikemonth.com with information and we will add it to this page and help you promote it.

Various Duval bike clubs, organizations, businesses, and city officials, are organizing several activities and will be promoting them, along with many others, via this site. We will continuously add to, and update, this list throughout the months prior. Brought to you mostly by the local bicycling community and brought to you in part by the Jacksonville Bicycle Coalition, Bike Jax, and Zen Cog. Here’s what’s happening so far!

The 2013 Bike Month Event List (So far! This is updated periodically):

Social Rides and Cultural Events

All Month — Bike to Work  – Whether or not this is organized by any entity is not an issue. Simply ride your bike to work… this month… or any other month. Or really whenever you wish ;)

All Month – Show your spirit! Strap your bike racks onto your vehicles and keep them there all month (and maybe a bike-related bumper sticker or two). Let’s unite in solidarity with this one simple gesture and show all the Jax motorists that YOU’RE a cyclist and PROUD of it. It’s the hip thang, baby.

1 May – Don’t Art Walk, Art Bike – The theme for May’s Art Walk is “May Mania” and Downtown Vision has very graciously included Bike Month in that theme! Get ready for some awesome bike-themed art and bike advocate booth vendors. Plus, the good folks of Bike Jax will have a free bike valet so your steeds will be in good hands! Don’t settle for driving, searching for a parking spot, and walking when you can ride your bike to Downtown Jacksonville’s monthly Art Walk event. Click on the link for tips.

September 2013 — Dirty Duval Bike Olympics – By The Skidmarks Bicycle Association. BOY was this ever FUN last year! Cyclists from various cities, states, and even a big group from Puerto Rico, traveled all the way to Jacksonville to compete in this three-day, one-of-a-kind, grassroots cycling event! And we’re talkin’ cyclists of all types, from fixed gear hipsters (they hate it when I call them that) to spandex-sporting roadies and everyone in between. Come out and cheer them on, or heck, sign up and actually partake in some friendly bike riding competition. Show this city whatcha got!
